There are many ways to meditate on God’s word.
Almost 300 years ago, a German composer named Johann Sebastian Bach gave us all a tremendous meditation on the Word of God. St. Matthew’s Passion was probably performed for the first time on Good Friday in 1727. It stands, to this day, as a towering work of worship and a wonderful way to meditate on the Word of God.
We will listen to the work on vinyl records in the church library. Our hope is that it will provide a way to think of the Passion in a new way. Because the work is in German, copies of the Scriptures with English translations will be provided. Come for as little of as much of the work as you would like. There will be a few natural breaks throughout the audio. Coffee and light snacks will be provided.
Sign up here or email Deacon Joel if you’re interested in attending.
